The Midlands has one of the richest mix of people from different ethnic backgrounds in the whole of Britain but take a short trip into the countryside and that diversity becomes hard to find.
The fact is people from black and Asian communities rarely visit rural areas and even fewer live and work there.
Our correspondent Peter Bearne begins a special series called "A Place in the Country".
He's been looking at the relationship between ethnic minorities and the English countryside, and why there might be a sense of alienation between the two.
